Driver (competition special)
For 2014, I am releasing 22 Driver pedals. (Please scroll to the bottom of the page for latest update)
Driver is based on the 1960′s Dallas Rangemaster treble boost. Each one completely hand wired using the very best components available.
Not all original Dallas Rangemaster’s were built the same. There were minor variations which made big differences to the sound.
Driver is based on the very best sounding original Rangemaster example that I have come across and is capable of harmonically rich and musical over-driven sounds.
Drivers are made with a selection of rare hand-picked and carefully tested transistors. The very best components have been used, including Takman audio grade carbon film resistors mounted on tag strip with point to point wiring just like the original units, but with the added practicality of a foot-switch, LED indicator and a 9VDC power socket.
The cases are IP54 rated (dust and splashing water protection) and then professionally powder-coated and screen-printed. The knobs are solid aluminium, made by a local professional CNC engineer. He is a perfectionist and this is reflected in his work. They are beautiful things.
This pedal can be powered by a 9volt PP3 battery or well regulated 9volt power supply with a 2.1mm negative center, positive barrel plug.
It is, of course, true mechanical bypass.
5 years from the date of manufacture.
Only 22 units will be made this year in small batches and they will be complete before the end of the year.
All now sold.
Update 28th September 2014
The last of the 2014 Drivers are complete and all are sold.
This is the spec for the last 11 units:-
- Pigdog yellow jacket transistors. Not Mullard OC44′s. They are NOS Mullard/Phillips OC43′s which test exactly like very good OC44′s. I am asked for yellow jacket transistors all the time, so I thought it would be fun to print some yellow jackets for the transistors which made the cut. The Pigdog YJ’s read ‘Pigdog Great Britain’.
- The colour is more of a golden yellow.
- Takman 1% metal film resistors @ 1watt, designed specifically for audio
